This thoughtfully designed extension seamlessly blends traditional Victorian architecture with contemporary design. The project transforms the existing townhouse with a light-filled rear extension that creates a stunning new family living and entertaining space, whilst establishing a strong visual and physical connection to the garden.
The modern addition features expansive glazing with slim black steel frames that flood the interior with natural light and frame views of the landscaped garden. The transparent pavilion-like structure sits respectfully against the original brick façade, creating an elegant dialogue between old and new. Large format paving stones connect the interior living space to the outdoor terrace, extending the usable area and blurring the boundaries between inside and outside.
The design prioritises openness and connection to nature, providing the family with a contemporary living environment that honours the character of the original building whilst meeting the needs of modern life.
